During his tenure as the Giants CEO, he has focused on maintaining the club’s cultural importance in San Francisco. Larry Baer is a co-founder of the Giants Community Fund, an organization that raises money for non-profits in San Francisco.
Larry Baer, who serves as a director for the Giants, is the chair of the board of directors for the Champions League, a non-profit association of leading international sports leagues that work to support national governing bodies, their academies and the funding of Olympic sports around the world.
SF Giants CEO extensive charity work includes service as a founding board member of the Pierre Claeyssens Veterans Foundation and the San Francisco Zoo. He also serves on the board of California Academies and was a founding board member of the Public Policy Institute of California and the San Francisco Foundation. He also sits on the advisory board of the Science & Society Academy at San Francisco State University and on the board of the East Bay Symphony.
Despite the pressures of keeping the team in San Francisco and growing revenues, he continues to work countless hours toward the betterment of our community. That passion and commitment is what makes him a San Francisco sports icon. The Giants CEO also serves on several boards, including The YMCA of San Jose Foundation, Facebook, the Bay Area Council, and the San Francisco Foundation, as well as a number of philanthropic organizations and non-profit corporations.
For nearly three decades, Baer has served as CEO of Giants Development Services, a division of the Giants that has operated all-inclusive baseball fields in North America and Europe. His responsibilities include sales, finance, and operations. At the beginning of his tenure with the Giants, Baer established an “all-inclusive” development concept, partnering with school districts to help kids with special needs play baseball.
Larry Baer’s other work in sports has included chairing the joint NBA/WNBA Board of Governors, the Southern California Sports Commission, and the North American Advisory Council of the Oakland Raiders.
